About

William Randall

I am a Senior Digital Journey Analyst at VyStar Credit Union, and I have been in the role since December 2022. In plain terms I analyze how members interact with the credit union digitally, on the website and in the app. I work with the product teams so they can gauge how members are using products and features, and I also look at how the credit union is growing on the digital side.

Google Analytics was new to me when I started at VyStar. I learned the tagging on the job, and now I own it, from the events we collect to the definitions product needs before a number is worth trusting. That data gets joined with BigQuery exports, MSSQL, and Azure Databricks, then reported in Power BI for the teams building the features.

The reporting work started earlier than the title. At Web.com, from March 2016 to November 2020, I was in hosting support and then technical services, still on the phones, and I built a few internal tools for the agents around me. The one that mattered was a Sales Tracker the agents ran themselves. They logged their own sales, and the tool calculated a payout from their compensation model, so that number was not a spreadsheet a manager had to rebuild by hand. I also put together a workforce tracker, an escalation generator. The call center VP recommended me for the reporting job because of those tools.

After Web.com I was at Enhanced Resource Centers, from February 2021 to December 2022, more BI developer than straight reporting analyst. The subject was mostly money collected. I ETL'd the source data into a database and views, then built the Excel reports off that.

I have also freelanced as a developer since 2010. Earlier on that was mostly Minecraft plugins. I do not chase client work right now, but I am open to it.

How I work

The three things that shape every project.

Start from the decision, not the data

The report should answer a question someone is about to ask in a meeting. Reverse-engineer the dashboard from there - every tile earns its place.

One source of truth per measure

If "active members" means two things across dashboards, the next meeting will be about definitions, not decisions.

Automate the repeatable

If it ran twice the same way, it should run itself. I

Beyond work

The rest of the picture.

I spend most of my free time on video games, code, and making games, with woodworking and other crafts mixed in when I want to build something I can actually hold. League of Legends and Escape from Tarkov are the ones I keep coming back to. Roguelikes and extraction shooters are the genres I reach for first. I also like ice hockey, mostly as a fan.

Volunteering is the other steady thing. I do it through VyStar, in and around the community, and 2025 is when it stopped being occasional. I logged 240.5 hours that year, up from 22 in 2024, and I was first runner-up for Volunteer of the Year. That is what set the 2026 goal at 400 hours. A lot of it has been local events, including bingo nights at SAFE Animal Shelter, where some of the woodworking ended up being useful. I built a Plinko board for their fundraisers, and more recently a mobile and web bingo night companion for people who have trouble hearing the numbers.
